As Yet Impossible
9-10 May 2011 – The Lowry & MCUK
The "The As Yet Impossible: in human performance" will take place on 9th and 10th May 2011 at MCUK and will be the first event to mark the opening of this extraordinary new resource. In keeping with our aims for MCUK to be a centre of future-media activities, the symposium has been organised to take the first steps in imagining a future shaped by new ways of thinking and doing. This will be a totally exploratory, generative activity, examining globally important issues that have arisen due to our increasing dependence on technology.
This will be a free-thinking provocation driven event, with Art, Science, Philosophy and IT expert practitioners and it is anticipated that the outputs from this symposium will form a base from which to develop new collaborations, research projects, publications, networks and products. Creative practitioners, academics and industry will work together to problem solve, to play, to imagine and invent the future. Adventurous in its attempt to place human performativity centrally within the context of globally impacting issues and highly unusual in bringing such a broad range of experts together, we hope that this combination will contribute positively to a vision of the 'as yet impossible' relationship of human performance to new technologies.
